Dabay • Photo Session

Exactly a week ago I spent the whole day with my once, twice, three times a lady-friend Dabay, Dabs, D., or Mrs. Villarin (if ya nasty) of California Pearl. My NYE plans were still up in the air for the night and since I’ve brought in New Year’s with her before and had a blast I wanted at the very least for us to spend the day together just in case I didn’t see her that night. So, I moseyed on over to her humble abode that she and her bae have put together so beautifully…

Every inch of her house is magazine ready and if you know Dabay and read her blog then her Instagram bio, “Making life beautiful one day at a time”, shouldn’t surprise you. You can be having the worst day and when you walk into her casa and candles are lit, the Shook Twins  are playing, and Dabs is offering you a cocktail before noon…all is well in the world.

Between baking some Oreo Peppermint Crunch Cookies, showing me her new art supplies (painting is a part of her NY resolution this year) and convincing me that my hair alone can have its own You Tube channel, I was able to capture Dabay in her sanctuary…

After we ate lunch Dabs insisted I watched my first episode of Portlandia since I’m entertaining the idea of moving there. Usually she’ll have me watch a melodramatic movie that will have an extremely ironic ending and while watching it I’d feel her eyes burning a hole through the side of my head, waiting to see my reaction to the ending (watch No se Aceptan Devoluciones and then let us watch you watch No se Aceptan Devoluciones) LOL. But Portlandia proved hilarious and really made me wish that there were such things as Birthday Loans. A girl can only dream, le sigh.

Although we didn’t spend New Year’s Eve together we’ve been a part of each other’s lives since high school and I’m extremely blessed to have this pearl girl by my side in 2015 and beyond.
